Pinot Noir 2003

Colour

Light red brick.

Aroma

Intense aroma of berry fruit, spice and cedary oak.

Palate

A medium body wine, juicy plum/cherry fruit, with a velvety soft tannin structure. The palate has hints of spicey white pepper and balanced malty oak. The wine is light yet classy.

Winemaking

Selected parcels were gently crushed and transferred to open pots. Cold maceration was followed by regularly hand plugging the cap, with fermentation on skins for 14 days. The wine was matured for 13 months in one year old french oak.

Viticulture

The 2003 vintage produced excellent quality Pinot Noir, low yields and extended ripening periods on a Scott Henry trellising system. Vines were shoot thinned and leaf plucked. Selected parcels of fruit from a single vineyard at Yering were hand picked and harvested from MV6 clone.

13% alc/vol
