2021 Dixons Creek Vineyard Chardonnay

Label: ‘Petronio By Maximilian’ - Dixons Creek Vineyard Chardonnay 2021

 

Vineyard: Dixons Creek Estate Vineyard located in Dixons Creek, re-planted in  it has a Northern exposure. The vineyard sits just above the valley floor, is subject to the typical Yarra Valley of cool nights and warm sunny days during the growing season.

 

Grape Variety: 100% Chardonnay (Bernard 76 & 95 clones)

 

Soil Composition: Sandy with clay loams

 

Training System: Vertical Shoot Position (VSP)

 

Winemaking: Whole bunches straight into the press. Gentle pressing took place with the free run separated. Juice was inoculated with a suitable yeast culture and transferred straight to barrel where primary fermentation took place for over 20 days. Partial malo-lactic conversion.

Maturation: In 228/300 Litre seasoned French Oak Barrels for a period of 10 months, with some lees sturring followed by bottle aging of 3 months prior to release.

 

Tasting Notes: Nectarine and cashew nut aromas, stone fruit flavours, creamy texture with long mineral acidity and underlying toasty oak.
